Deputy Assistant Secretary Todd D. Robinson Visits Lebanon

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Todd D. Robinson visited Lebanon today and met with Internal Security Forces (ISF) Commander General Ashraf Rifi and toured the ISF training facility in Dbayeh.

In his meetings, Mr. Robinson expressed the United States' dedication to assist the ISF to develop into a modern professional police force that serves and protects all of Lebanon's citizens. He welcomed the strong partnership between the two countries in law enforcement cooperation.

Mr. Robinson highlighted the three-year Civilian Police training program that has brought American law enforcement professionals to train over ,,00 ISF cadets and police officers. He congratulated General Rifi on building an impressive professional cadre of Lebanese police trainers who will now fully assume the responsibility of cadet training.In Dbayeh, Mr. Robinson observed a skills demonstration by 10 female cadets who will comprise the first cadre of professional female police officers and are scheduled to begin their service later this year. He commended the ISF for its leadership in expanding its ranks to women and improving the professionalism and effectiveness of the entire police force.Mr. Robinson renewed the United States' commitment to a stable, sovereign and independent Lebanon.
